Every year hundreds of organisations and individuals in over 30 countries take part in EU Sustainable Energy week by hosting Energy Day events and activities that promote energy efficiency and renewable energy more


22nd-23rd March 2012 at The Palace Hotel Sliema.

The key speakers were Dott. Giovanni Manco and Dott. Stefano Mugnoz. The main objectives of the event rotated around the energy policy focuses on renewable energy sources, reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, energy efficiency, social and employment issues in the redistribution of energy resources; better information and greater choice for consumers and education and training needs for the carbon-free energy society

During this seminar Jesmond Xuereb, the Director of MIEMA, explained the aims and objectives of Enerscapes. The highlights of his presentations consisted of the strategy and the results obtained during this project. This was followed by a discussion about the opportunities of combining landscape and renewable energy sources in Malta while making reference to the present economic situation.

Within the Enerscapes project, University of Maribor organized the local event that took place in Moravske Toplice, Hotel Vivat, on the 15th of March, 2012.

Many experts from various fields took part, some from the energy technology field and some from the environmentalarea. The investors and constructors of the HPPs participated as well such as the environmental organizations Green Peace and Society for Mura River protection. Scenarios for the exploitation of RES had been presented and was continued with the debate. Many opinions and ideas were brought to the attention and as well as the suggestions for the future work.

Some of the experts who participated in the local events, invited the University of Maribor on additional meetings in order to reach the common ground on the scenarios for RES exploitation in the Pomurje Region.

The 3rd meeting between Enerscapes partners has took place in Lyon, Rhone-Alpes.

The first day has been a workshop mainly focused on Pilot experiences. The topics which have been discussed have concerned the implementation of different scenarios which are based on different degrees of importance given to RES and/or to landscape. The assessment of these scenarios implying local governance has also been presented and at the aim of the workshop partners started to draw the main trend of an action plan methodology.

The second day of the meeting has consisted of a study tour in one of the French pilot area, located in the natural regional park of Bauges (in the Alps). It has included the visit of a biogas plant and some meeting with a landscape expert of the territory.
